Icy Morning

It reached -2.7 centigrade and it didn't get much further -1°c. It was not bad, less people than we expected. Naughty!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The birds were few, although I heard that the Hawfinch was there. This is the last time you hear my wittering on in 2008, so, look out, the new year is nearly here.

Tuesday 30 December 2008

Tree Creeper at Cyril Hart Arboretum

This is the best that I have photographed, it was very nice. I'll keep on taking them, as this one was low aperture.

Monday 29 December 2008

Coot at Cannop Ponds

It was still crowded everywhere, whenever I stopped to take a photograph, a load of dogs barking or people who were loud, and had to stay right there. What me angry? I can't even speak a little.................

Sunday 28 December 2008

Brambling at New Fancy View

I met Brian Williams, another birder, which I believe is his first time at New Fancy View. It was Sunday, and a very busy time. You may find his blog under:
 http://www.wildsnaps.blogspot.com/

Saturday 27 December 2008

Hawfinch at New Fancy View

Another Hawfinch, in fact there was 2 of them. This was before I went to Littledean, which I succeeded to 14 Waxwings. It had become rather cloudy, so I did not take any worth showing.

Friday 26 December 2008

Great Tit at New Fancy View

I only had 30 minutes to look for birds, that day I was off to my parents, and brothers, wives and neice. A family gathering.
It's funny, that the forestry commission didn't want to open the gate on 25th, it's only a day, after all.

Tuesday 23 December 2008

Pheasant

It's the game shooting season, yuk!!!!!!!!!!!!! One day, the pheasant will be armed, and aim straight at those who want it dead.

Monday 22 December 2008

Sunday 21 December 2008

Little Grebe at Cannop Ponds

There wasn't any Hawfinches at New Fancy View, so I carried on to Cannop Ponds and found a little waterfowl.

Saturday 20 December 2008

No.2 Hawfinch at New Fancy View

It is a lot better than the last one, but not as good as excepted. He/she was eating from a coconut shell.

Friday 19 December 2008

Hawfinch at New Fancy View

Twice I heard of this bird, from Brian Davis, so I would sit there and wait. After about 2 hours, it came along, but it was in bad light. But, I had never photographed it, so its a first time. I think that it's probably going to be there, when it is sunny.

Thursday 18 December 2008

Waxwing at Hereford again

It's been a lousy day, not much photographs taken, I mean none. So I put up my Waxwing photo, which I took yesterday.

Wednesday 17 December 2008

Waxwing at Hereford

I met Andy Carey, http://andrewcareyphotography.co.uk/main2.htm and we both set off for a wonderful day, searching for the Waxwings. There, we also met Chris Grady and lots of birders.
This was my first sighting of such a beautiful bird. I have many shots, so I will put them up whenever I am in need of something.

Tuesday 16 December 2008

Yet another Tree Creeper at Cannop Ponds

Yes, it was foggy, but I reckon I've updated the Tree Creeper. It's amost there! I went out in fog and murk, in search of Waxwing, but it fell short of actually finding one. Never mind, let's keep on!

Monday 15 December 2008

Tree Creeper at Cannop Ponds

Here another Tree Creeper, soon I'll get close enough to perfection. I heard though Bird Guides, that the Waxwings is here, which I am after, so if it is possible, tomorrow I'll be after them.

Sunday 14 December 2008

Nuthatch at New Fancy View

Everything was happening this morning, according to Brian Davis. He saw a Hawfinch there, and where was I, still in bed catching the ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I've only seen one, and I'm so desperate.

Friday 12 December 2008

Rook on a TV ariel, Lydney

I had lots of things to do, you know, like xmas is coming. So I, was very busy. I had to get out our magazine, and I think, its not too bad. Sorry, its not for everyone, only those that are elderly or disabled. But, I may be able to show it, but it will cost you.

Thursday 11 December 2008

Marsh Tit at New Fancy View

Not much to talk about. It was a dark and dismal day, not a good day for photography. The thing I've been talking about, was the wild boar, and it seems that they have been eating there, or maybe a deer. That was exactly where I'd left their food. But, something had been there.

Wednesday 10 December 2008

Great Spotted Woodpecker at Cyril Hart Arboretum

My photographs are getting worse, it must be the weather. I am going to give up on searching the piggies, this means that they will turn up expecting. I think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday 9 December 2008

Jay at Cyril Hart Arboretum

I went to New Fancy View this morning, and what did I see, the tracks of Wild Boar. They've been eating every thing they could. So, I'll change where I'm going to, and try and capture one or two of those piggies.

Monday 8 December 2008

Tree Creeper at Cyril Hart Arboretum

I took this one in bad light, and I mean, bad light. It had to be the first time I had been so close to the beautiful bird. Never mind, there will be other times.

Sunday 7 December 2008

Blue-winged Teal at Slimbridge WWT

I went to Cirencester to be with my dad, mum, brother and his wife. It was his birthday, (our dad), on the 2nd, 87 years. So, good luck dad. I haven't been to Slimbridge for a while, so I will have to make it there. Sometime in the next few weeks.

Saturday 6 December 2008

Coot at Cannop Ponds

Well, I found another place to bait the heavenly Wild Boar, so I am going to work at it for at least week. Other people see it, why cant me, after all, I really want to!!!!!!!!!!

Friday 5 December 2008

Blackbird at Moseley Green

I went to the feeding ground of Wild Boar, but, I was let down, there were the food offerings I had hoped to tantalize their delicate appetites. I went there sometime later, and the birds had eaten them. Never mind, better luck next time!

Thursday 4 December 2008

Robin at Lydney Marshes

I waited for an hour and a half, but today wasn't the one. There wasn't a wild boar, not even a snorting noise. Still, I will have to wait................. I'll go back in the morning to see if there is any food I left out.

Wednesday 3 December 2008

Pied Wagtail at Cyril Hart Arboretum

I saw Chris Grady at New Fancy View, and he told about the Wild Boar, and what you should feed them. So, I am off to to find them, it might some time, but I am convinced that I'll find them. You can find Chris's website on http://www.wildlife-imaging.co.uk/

Tuesday 2 December 2008

Snowy feature of the road outside New Fancy

It started snowing earlier in the day, it didn't last very long. It was the only place that snowed, one more for the Forest of Dean.

Monday 1 December 2008

Dunnock at Lydney

A nice bird, Accentor, there when everyone says they no longer exist. I am talking or writing a load of rubbish!

Sunday 30 November 2008

Song Thrush at Lydney park

It's b..... cold, therefore, I photograph from in my motor, a car not on my scooter. I didn't used to be so cold, but as I'm getting older, I feel it more. The people who go around in their shirt sleeves are totally mad!

Saturday 29 November 2008

Black-headed Gull at Lydney boating lake

It was a dull day, as you can see, it wasn't very nice. And, the weather forecast is full of rain and very cold. It is lasting to Tuesday, so I will have to send you something from my archives.

Thursday 27 November 2008

Little Grebe at the Marshes

It's raining, so I have thought that this one was good enough, I said it would be some days, but it isn't............ oh well. That reminds me of a song..........it is Fleetwood Mac.

Tuesday 25 November 2008

Willow Tit at New Fancy View

I am pretty sure that is a Willow Tit, I hope it is anyway. I could have got it a bit closer, but I didn't have the right lens.

Sunday 23 November 2008

Redwing at the Marshes, Lydney

Now, it is better. A truly beautiful Redwing. Feeding on Hawthorn berries. Every year, you can find them here. I hope it will stay the same!

Saturday 22 November 2008

Thursday 20 November 2008

Redwing at the Marshes, Lydney

I found this one on the Marshes, and plenty of them. Its not too bad, so I'll put in the web.

Wednesday 19 November 2008

Tuesday 18 November 2008

Grey Squirrel at Cannop Ponds

I know, it's grey not red. But she seems like she is having, or has already got some babies.

Monday 17 November 2008

Starling in my garden

It was not a brilliant day, in fact, it was shambolic. I didn't do very much, oh, it was today that I found out, the way forward for us (can't walk very far or can't walk at all) to raise the matter of walking in the countryside, when you come to a stile, but can't go any more. So, I will try to change that. I know of many such gates, stiles and just a fence.

Sunday 16 November 2008

Great Spotted Woodpecker at Cannop Ponds

Is she climbing a piece of wood, or it is small enough to take some food. I know it is a meter high, placed about, to stop all cars. And, it works well, good for the Forestry Commission.

Friday 14 November 2008

Brambling at New Fancy View

Yet another one, I can't stop filming them. This should be more photogenic than the other, you can see its eye, and its one to please my dad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thursday 13 November 2008

Redwing at Moseley Green

Yesterday was a big mistake, not mine, but my servers fault, and that's why I didn't come on the Internet. Anyway, this is the Redwings day, it could have been better, and I will catch some, in a better day.
