Gorse in the Forest of Dean


I'm always going on about the weather, but today was good day. Would you believe it, I didn't take a picture worth this blog. There were some times I could have been faster, like the one that I went up there for, Common Crossbills and a Hawfinch..................in the trees. But I didn't!!!!

Tufted Duck (Number 2 pond, Harbour Rd)

On the way back from birdwatching, I saw a Tufted Duck. Strange thing about him was, he didn't have any mates. Maybe he was waiting for all of them to come?

Boys Grave, Forest of Dean

This is a fly, I dont know which one it is, but I am sure it's one them.


The Foxglove is best known for its existence in the mid summer, but it is here, and surviving at the beginning of autumn.
It was a dull and gloomy part of this planet, still, I look forward to it sunny and no wind!

Small Copper butterfly (Lydney. The Marshes)




This is one of my favourite of butterflies. It comes here between May and September, but, I can't see them until August. It has been reported up in the Forest of Dean, but I could not see them. Well, I will have to search much harder!

Greylag Geese (Speech House Woodlands)




It has been truly wonderful weather, I did have to mention the thing I shouldn't do, but it has been beautiful.
It has been nice for the Greylag Geese, resting, taking a trip on the lake and stopping for a break to eat.

At 12.00pm, my bro, Dave, came by and showed me something about photograph, that I didn't know. He is the very good at photography, about the best.
